The ATX Index
The most significant stock market index of the Wiener Börse and the prime business center in the Austrian economy
is the Austrian Traded Index (ATX). Similar to most European indices which are defined as a price index ATX
presently comprises of 20 stocks. Vienna’s Stocks Exchange is the main stock exchange in Southeastern and
Eastern Europe, and ATX is the most strictly checked index there.
Austrian Futures and Options Exchange have the owner ship of the ATX or the Austrian traded index. The 20
stocks use ATX index as a price index. At the establishment of the Austrian Futures and Options Exchange,
the ATX index is used and was created to stand for the indices of an Austrian share market. All the descriptive
and effective operations of the stock markets are represented through an ATX index. Therefore, the Austrian
traded index can be said to be functioning as a collective market indicator.
The most liquid part of an Austrian stock market that is the price dynamic constant is documented by ATX.
77% of entire market income and the entire capitalization of the market in Austria makes up the liquid part
of an Austrian stock market is 52%.
ATX has indexes as a family, which was created in 1995 and the members include - ATX 50, ATX-MidCap and
ATX 50 Performance Indexes. This is one more service done by ATX; fundamental to the futures and options
contracts.
Some of those companies who have the capitalization of different markets on the Vienna Stock Exchange own the entitled stocks in an ATX index. This is very important. The official market section of the constantly traded stocks should have a list of all the stocks present in ATX index. A significantly huge free-floated capital is needed if inclusion in the ATX index is intended. During the stock broking, ATX is continuously calculated and printed. The amount of the individual or separate share held by the enterprise is dependent upon capitalization of that market. At the Viennese stock exchange act on the behalf of Futures and options Austrian Traded Index also is used as a base value. In March and September dates usually change, when the composition of the ATX is scrutinized, whose most important criterion for cancellation and admission are “kapitalisierter” stocks exchange conversion and strewing possession. The top from the index three enterprises can be taken to index at the time of the half yearly adjustment. The highest daily crash by ATX was suffered in October 28 1997 during the financial crisis of Southeast Asia.
